The School by Mika is a one-of-a-kind makeup studio offering short term makeup courses, as well as one on one tutorials taught by highly skilled and experienced industry makeup artists. Designed for those interested in an introduction to the field or those who simply have a passion for makeup, our courses range from basic lessons for beginners who are interested in enhancing their own skills to more advanced workshops for professional with an interest in their continued growth of their craft and marketability. THE MAKEUP ARTIST COURSES: LEVELS 1 – 5
LEVEL 1: INTRO TO MAKEUP ART
This is the first of 5 makeup artist levels you can take at Mika Makeup. In this level you will get an introduction to makeup for beginners. You will start building your kit with a special professional hand made makeup brush set as well as tools you will need for the trade.
THIS COURSE WILL TEACH YOU:
-the most requested three looks in a makeup artists repertoire,
-in the first class a natural makeup application with emphasis on natural contouring and shapes
-in the second class a smokey eye look with emphasis on eye shapes using darker colours
-in the third class a classic look using liquid liner and false lashes
-what are the best tools and brushes to use
-basic skin care and how to prep your models face for long wearing makeup
THIS COURSE INCLUDES:
- an “Intro to Makeup” Brush set, toolbelt,disposable tools kit, and brush cleanser.
- step by step notes that are emailed to you at the end of class
-all extra makeup and tools that are used for in class work.

LEVEL 2 : COLOUR THEORY
In level 2 the breadth of colour theory is explored to enhance natural eye colour, and to select makeup colours complementary to clothing, skin tone and hair for looks both subtle and extreme.
THIS COURSE WILL TEACH YOU:
-in the first class you will learn how to bring out green. blue, and brown eye colours
-in the second class you will learn about combining cool and warm colour as well as monochromatic makeup
-in the third class you will about triadic colour combinations
-how to use a colour wheel
-how to design a face charts
-how to mix and create all colours using primary colours
THIS COURSE INCLUDES:
- a “colour makeup” kit
- step by step notes that are emailed to you at the end of class
-all extra makeup and tools that are used for in class work.

LEVEL 3: SKIN AND BONES
In this level 3 course you will learn contouring and highlight to emphasize and correct bone structure, skin corrective techniques and adjusting to all skin tones and ethnicities.
THIS COURSE WILL TEACH YOU:
- how to apply makeup to various face shapes
-the basic anatomy of the skull
-blending techniques for foundation applications
-what the purpose of highlighting and contouring is
-how to choose makeup colours for various skin tones and ethnicites
-corrective makeup using colour theory, how to camouflage freckles, age spots, scars, and dark circles under the eyes
THIS COURSE INCLUDES:
- a “foundation” kit

LEVEL 5: INDUSTRY RANGE
In this level 5 course you will learn corrective camera ready makeup for women, men, and children for film and tv. Adjust basic techniques to complement the maturing model.
THIS COURSE WILL TEACH YOU:

-HD tv makeup techniques
-how to maintain makeup on set
-how to adjust your makeup techniques for a maturing model
-how to apply body makeup
-what to keep in your set bag

MAKEUP COURSE: BRIDAL
This is a 6 week bridal makeup class. One night per week for 3.15 hours. In this class learn bridal makeup techniques, as well as, everything you need to know about starting up a freelance bridal makeup business.
Kit purchase required for this class. No model required.

THE ONE-ON-ONE : TUTORIAL
This is a chance for you to customize your dates and times for class! One-on-One instruction is $40/hr plus HST. One-on-One packages are 3 hours for $120, The 9 hour Level 1 for $360, The 18 hour Level 1 and 2 for $720, and The 27 hour Level 1, 2, and 3 for $1080.
HAIR STYLING: FOR MAKEUP ARTISTS
New! In this class you will basic hair styling for photo shoots, bridal, and event makeup. This is a 3 week course, 2 nights a week.

BASIC MAKEUP
This is an introductory course for people wishing to learn makeup skills for personal use.
THIS COURSE WILL TEACH YOU:
-how to do makeup on yourself
-what are the best tools and brushes to use
-basic skin care and how to prep your face for long wearing makeup
- 3 different makeup looks from start to finish
- in the first class how to do a flawless natural day look
- in the second class how to do the ever popular smokey look
- in the third class how to apply liquid liner and false lashes and how to contour the cheekbones, nose and face.
-in the fourth class practice how to transform your day look into a “going out” look.

THE WORKSHOPS
Four-play!!!!
New! Come down to Mika makeup with yourself and three of your girlfriends and learn basic makeup for day and night. Learn the blow dry basic and how to use your hot tools for hair. Afterwards, head out on the town or to main st. for a girls night out.

Come in with your mother or daughter and bond over this distinctly female rite of passage. Book this class when it is convenient for you both but make sure is it booked on a day where you can go out after because you will be looking red carpet ready! This workshop is 3hrs.
